Low Country Healthy Start

LCHS has been working to improve infant mortality in the rural counties of Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton and Orangeburg for thirteen (13) years. The leading cause of infant mortality is low birth weight births. Raising awareness of what contributes to infant deaths, what helps women have healthier babies, and providing scholarships is the purpose of this luncheon.

The luncheons focus is what SC Citizens each day works to improve and that is the health of individuals and families. The Scholarship Campaign began in 2005 and has assisted more than one hundred fifty (150) participants.
